Virginia native Ben Long was a guitar player first. From the age of 14 he became obsessed with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, SRV, John Frusciante, and John Mayer. It wasn’t until the age of 18 during a summer semester at Berklee College of Music that he started to hone in on the craft of songwriting. During his time in Boston, his influences became widely broadened. Whether it’s the guitar playing of the 60s, the lyrical sense of folk, or that new age flair of alternative and indie - Ben will pull from a variety of different sounds. With such a vast pallet of genres and inspiration, he has been writing music ever since with the goal of one day releasing a self titled EP.
In his current solo acoustic act, you’ll see him play a style of rhythmic blues and rock, mixed with a hint of folk and americana. Utilizing live loops, he creates extra layers to some of his songs in order to showcase his lead guitar skills. Yet with these elements in mind, he doesn’t shy away from the raw sound that just his guitar and voice can bring. Through refined guitar parts and carefully crafted melodies, you’ll hear a seamless yet emotional sound that wraps you in as a listener.
